Soft orthogonal phase shift keying (SOPK) modulation with OVSF-MAC for UMTS

چکیده
Various digital modulation techniques have been extensively studied and have found numerous applications in wireless communication systems. One example of this success is the QPSK modulation used in the third generation Universal Mobile Telecommunication System (UMTS). This paper presents a new modulation method that produces less adjacent channel interference (ACI) and lower bit error rate (BER) than the QPSK modulation with linear amplification. We call this new modulation technique Soft Orthogonal Phase shift Keying (SOPK). This modulation is perfect for a new coding method OVSF-MAC that can at least duplicate the binary throughput in the UMTS down link channel.

An Efficient Hierarchical Modulation based Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing Transmission Scheme for Digital Video Broadcasting
Due to the increase of users the efficient usage of spectrum plays an important role in digital terrestrial television networks. In digital video broadcasting, local and global content are transmitted by single frequency network and multifrequency network respectively. Multifrequency network support transmission of global content and it consumes large spectrum. Similarly local content are well ...
متن کاملNew UMTS Down Link OVSF With Multiple Amplitude Coding
Our investigation is focused on the binary capacity improvement of the Down Link Channel in UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunication System). For a WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) system, the use of different channels at the same time, by many users, is possible because these physical channels are orthogonal to each other. For UMTS, these orthogonal codes are called “OVSF (Orthog...
متن کاملNew Full-response Qpsk Signal Format
Based on a novel class of orthogonal pulse pairs, new full-response quadrature-quadrature phase-shift keying (QPSK) signal format is proposed in the paper. The proposed full-response QPSK signals can provide higher spectral compactness than conventional fullresponse QPSK signal, minimum-shift keying signal and quadrature phase-shift keying signal.
متن کاملSystem characterization of optical ASK/DPSK orthogonal modulation for supervisory information dissemination
Recently, optical differential phase shift keying (DPSK) has attracted much interest in high-speed optical transmission systems. It features constant intensity and thus is less vulnerable to the fiber nonlinearities. In addition to high-speed data transmission, it is desirable to carry relatively low-speed supervisory information simultaneously to facilitate the system monitoring and network ma...
متن کاملEffect of Nonlinear Phase Variation in Optical Millimetre Wave Radio over Fibre Systems
In this paper, we propose an optical millimetre wave radio-over-fibre (mm-wave RoF) system that uses a dual drive Mach Zehnder modulator (DD-MZM), which is biased at the maximum transmission biasing point, to generate an optical double sideband-suppressed carrier. The input to the DD-MZM are binary phase shift keying (BPSK), quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK), 8-phase shift keying (8-PSK) and...
